Recruiter Spotlight: Amber Leonard is a Positive and Energetic Team-Player

By The CyberCoders Team - June 15th, 2016
Inside CyberCoders

Have you met Sr. Executive Recruiter Amber Leonard, one of CyberCoders' Rockstar Recruiters?

Leonard, a native Californian, dedicated recruiter, and devoted mother, specializes in placing those with a Strong Mortgage and Finance Background Including C-Level Positions and Software Engineers.

"As a dedicated recruiter I am driven by making my clients' goals my own. With my "partner" approach I am able to focus on the individual needs of my client and offer quality business solutions."

Tell us about an exciting job match you made recently?

I had a candidate two months ago that I had meet with a company so that they may consider her for any future “leadership roles” as their company grows.  They liked her, however, they did not have a role that would be challenging enough for her on a day to day basis given her background.  I agreed with the candidate as she explained to me what her “dream job” would entail.  I expressed this to the VP’s of the company.  When the opportunity came about for someone to take over the position as the site manager I requested that they reach back out to my candidate.  The SVP came from Texas to have dinner with her and they immediately hit it off.  She was hired for what she said is her “dream job” with a 42k annual increase in pay.

What drives you to go above and beyond?

I treat my desk as if it was my own personal business.  When it comes to my own desk I am my own worst critic. Because I take pride in improving the lives of candidates, adding value to my clients' team/growth and making money this pushes me to go above and beyond.  I take pride in my position at CyberCoders and I feel fortunate to have the tools and support of the organization (and the coffee).  I also feel it necessary to give support to the “newbies” as this is a challenging job (especially in the beginning). I believe it is our job as more seasoned recruiters to assist with encouragement and advice as need be.

What do you think separates CyberCoders from the average recruiting firm?

Honestly, I believe the individuals within our firm set the company apart.  Yes, CyberCoders has the tools, the fun blogs and funky logo.  However, it is our recruiters that are standing on the front line.  We are the liaison (representing the company name) between the client and the candidate.  Our firm can only be set apart by the strong work ethic, morals and heart of the recruiter.  Though this is a “numbers” game and we must work the numbers to overcome the variables that come with this industry, the employees behind the firm can set a positive or a negative tone with the public.

What is your favorite part about being a recruiter?

I feel like I am genuinely assisting candidates with accomplishing their goals while adding value to my clients.

What are your favorite hobbies or activities outside of the office?

I love to dance and sing like a babbling fool with my 11 year old daughter around my house on a daily basis.  That’s how we get the silly out!  I love to run, take spin classes (not so much since I started this job), digging into THE WORD, taking walks, reading, entertaining, a good country song and watching my daughter grow into a person of her own.
